Pastel art work in smaller scales is difficult to do:  working with chalk to show fine detail is difficult because the chalk breaks and looses an edge quickly.  So, other methods were used that are time consuming and difficult to control.  However, the results below show it can be done.

This is a christmas angel. An idea for the art show in Long Beach of the Indie Patchwork Arts  Crafts Festival in the Fall.  Used as a master for greeting cards, this sold a number of cards in that time period.  The picture measures 19" x 25" comes framed . Completed November 2011.  $275

My art was displayed as a featured artist at the Heroes For Autism fundraising event April 19, 2009 at the Avalon in Hollywood.  


In 10th grade, I created a self portrait using a 4"x 6" black and white photo as my model. The art teacher for my class submitted it to a Long Beach school district juried art competition. Out of seven high schools and several middle schools, my work won 3rd place in the 2007 Norman Gottlieb Youth Art Show at the Long Beach Jewish Community Center Gatov Gallery. "Swimmers Excitement" is soft pastel on pastel paper and measures 24 1/2" x 18 1/2".

This is a portrait of my mom and dad. The original photo was taken at the Seal Beach pier with the open sky in the background. It was completed in March 2008. "Mark and Billie" is soft pastel on pastel paper and measures 33 1/2" x 27".
This s a pastel portrait of my grandparents. This is my mom's parents when they were in their early 20s. I used the picture as a model, an 8" x 10" black and white photo taken at their wedding reception. "Russ and Bev" is soft pastel on pastel paper and measures 25" x 20". It was completed in May 2008.

I created this portrait using an 8" x 10" black and white photo of a friends' grandparent's wedding picture as a model. Soft pastel on pastel paper, it measures 18" x 24". Completed June 2008.

This is a picture of my friend's dog who passed away. I was given a photo to use as a model and created the background from my imagination. "Punchie" is soft pastel on pastel paper and measures 24"x30". Completed July 2008.


This a study of my house. In this work, I focused on the landscape. This piece is soft pastel on pastel paper and measures 20" x 26". Completed July 2008.




This is a portrait of my mom's friend's two sons using a more true color scene. No fauvism here at the request of the client. Soft pastel on pastel paper and measures 15" x 24". Completed December 2008.

This is a portrait of a friend. Notice the "aura" emanating from Lauren; I often sense energy coming from people. In this subject, I sense a beautiful heart. The portrait is 19" x 19 1/2". Soft pastel on pastel paper. Completed March 2009.

This a portrait of my friend Alex Rotaru, a multi-talented filmmaker. His latest documentary, "They Came To Play" is an award winning highly entertaining and inspirational portrait of several people following their dreams...later in life. Alex's aura suggests very high creativity and curiosity. The portrait measures 17" x 16". Completed March 2009.





This is a picture of the newly weds Liz and Michael. My cousin on the right and my cousin in-law on the left. Completed July 2009. This picture measures 25 1/2" x 20".



This is a picture of a dog who is happy. Not my dog but this picture came from the internet. I focused on the dog's mouth and body. The picture measures 20"x 25". Completed September 2009. The picture was sold at the Smooth N' Purdy Art Gallery in Glendale for $ 225.




This is a picture of the two horses watching over each other. I focused on the horses making it like a true color- like motion representing friendship. Completed September 2009. The picture measures 25"x 33". This picture was sold at the Smooth N' Purdy Art Gallery for $ 500.



This is a model picture of the men's shoes. Men's shoes are so fascinating to me because I see men walking with colleagues, on a date with girlfriends or wifes, and on their way to work. Completed September 2009. Picture measures 20"x 25".



This is a picture of a blood hound. It looks sad and lonely with no one to play fetch with or walk with to the park. If you look up with this dog, you and dog will both share happiness. Completed September 2009. Soft pastel on paper. It measures 19"x 25".

This is a model picture of a lady shoe. That shoe reminds me of ladies who are walking with the shoes their wearing are on their way to work, out on a date with their boyfriends or husbands, with colleagues, and out shopping. Completed September 2009. Picture measures 19"x 25".

This is a picture of the three donkeys. This shot took place in Phoenix, Arizona. I focused on the donkeys and the background I did on my own. I was commissioned from a friend that wanted the picture as a christmas gift. Completed February 2010. Picture measures 25"x 20".

Happy Valentine's Day! That's a picture of the two hearts. I made up the background and the little hearts on my own. I focused more on the big hearts to make it look 3D. Completed February 2011. Picture measures 27 1/2"x 27".




This is a picture of a dog that looks curious. Dog would ask as you can tell from the perspective point of view, are we going for a walk, play, swim & etc. Completed February 2011. Picture measures 22"x 27 1/2".

This is a picture of a Siberian Husky. I focused on the body and the mouth. The dog is looking at you that he/she is having fun at the park. The picture measures 26"1/2 x 34". Completed July 2011.
