Pastel art work in smaller scales is difficult to do:  working with chalk to show fine detail is difficult because the chalk breaks and looses an edge quickly.  So, other methods were used that are time consuming and difficult to control.  However, the results below show it can be done.

The following artwork is for sale: Contact Email Information : sgreenwald100@gmail.com

My art was displayed as a featured artist at the Heroes For Autism fundraising event April 19, 2009 at the Avalon in Hollywood.

In 10th grade, I created a self portrait using a 4"x 6" black and white photo as my model. The art teacher for my class submitted it to a Long Beach school district juried art competition. Out of seven high schools and several middle schools, my work won 3rd place in the 2007 Norman Gottlieb Youth Art Show at the Long Beach Jewish Community Center Gatov Gallery. "Swimmers Excitement" is soft pastel on pastel paper and measures 24 1/2" x 18 1/2".

This is a portrait of my mom and dad. The original photo was taken at the Seal Beach pier with the open sky in the background. It was completed in March 2008. "Mark and Billie" is soft pastel on pastel paper and measures 33 1/2" x 27".
This s a pastel portrait of my grandparents. This is my mom's parents when they were in their early 20s. I used the picture as a model, an 8" x 10" black and white photo taken at their wedding reception. "Russ and Bev" is soft pastel on pastel paper and measures 25" x 20". It was completed in May 2008.

I created this portrait using an 8" x 10" black and white photo of a friends' grandparent's wedding picture as a model. Soft pastel on pastel paper, it measures 18" x 24". Completed June 2008.

This is a picture of my friend's dog who passed away. I was given a photo to use as a model and created the background from my imagination. "Punchie" is soft pastel on pastel paper and measures 24"x30". Completed July 2008.

This a study of my house. In this work, I focused on the landscape. This piece is soft pastel on pastel paper and measures 20" x 26". Completed July 2008.

This is a portrait of my mom's friend's two sons using a more true color scene. No fauvism here at the request of the client. Soft pastel on pastel paper and measures 15" x 24". Completed December 2008.

This is a portrait of a friend. Notice the "aura" emanating from Lauren; I often sense energy coming from people. In this subject, I sense a beautiful heart. The portrait is 19" x 19 1/2". Soft pastel on pastel paper. Completed March 2009.

This a portrait of my friend Alex Rotaru, a multi-talented filmmaker. His latest documentary, "They Came To Play" is an award winning highly entertaining and inspirational portrait of several people following their dreams...later in life. Alex's aura suggests very high creativity and curiosity. The portrait measures 17" x 16". Completed March 2009.

This is a picture of the newly weds Liz and Michael. My cousin on the right and my cousin in-law on the left. Completed July 2009. This picture measures 25 1/2" x 20".

This is a model picture of the men's shoes. Men's shoes are so fascinating to me because I see men walking with colleagues, on a date with girlfriends or wifes, and on their way to work. Completed September 2009. Picture measures 20"x 25".

This is a picture of a blood hound. It looks sad and lonely with no one to play fetch with or walk with to the park. If you look up with this dog, you and dog will both share happiness. Completed September 2009. Soft pastel on paper. It measures 19"x 25".

"MWMHHSBC" a favorite teacher. Completed April 2009. Picture measures 12"x 16".

Hi Stephanie...my name is Jon and I'm from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. I was very fortunate to have seen the documentary about the animation camp you attended just recently. The show only briefly touched on your art but I was amazed, moved and so very impressed! My wife and I would love to know if you would be willing to paint something for us to display in our home, or if you would be willing to sell any of the pieces you have already done. Are you on facebook? In the meantime, I'll follow you here and maybe you could post a comment in reply to mine? Take care and God bless you!
